“Playing” It Forward

The Freese Brothers Memorial Scholarship Fund

Since 1986, The Freese Brothers Big Band has presented scholarship awards totaling over $100,000 to enable hundreds of talented middle and high school musicians to enhance their musical skills.  The Band has awarded scholarships to young musicians from many communities in New Hampshire, including, Alton, Boscawen, Bow, Chichester, Concord, Loudon, Manchester, and Pittsfield.

Our scholarships are awarded to middle and high school students attending New Hampshire schools. Our winners return to their high schools and share what they have learned with their classmates and help improve their school and community music programs. They also let us know about their experiences at the summer programs they attended.

The Scholarship Fund is supported by a portion of our performance fees and by tax deductible contributions from the public.  A significant portion of the Scholarship Fund is managed by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.
